A US$612 million international appeal sent by the Government following Cyclone Idai that ravaged the country last month is expected to receive urgent attention from its development partners.
President Mnangagwa yesterday met captains of industry at State House in Harare where he made a passionate appeal for them to assist in the reconstruction of infrastructure in communities that were ravaged by Cyclone Idai.
Zimbabwean political leaders yesterday rose above their political persuasions and showed the world that they can work together for the country’s common good after they toured the Cyclone Idai-ravaged districts of Chipinge and Chimanimani as a team to assess the damage.
President Mnangagwa has appointed 15 new ambassadors drawn from different sectors to replace those who have died, been recalled or retired. The list of the ambassadors-designate includes five service chiefs, who were recently retired from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), to take up diplomatic posts.
