Why is Zimbabwe in the Opportunity Thematic District?
The thrust of “Opportunity” is well in sync with Zimbabwe ‘s Vision of becoming a Prosperous and Empowered upper-middle income society by 2030, and mission of promoting Brand Zimbabwe. The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Comrade E.D. Mnangagwa has declared that Zimbabwe is “Open for Business”. This mantra buttresses the choice for Zimbabwe to exhibit under the opportunity sub-theme. Under the nation branding Programme, the Government of Zimbabwe is mobilizing and motivating everyone, including the citizens, private and public sector, and foreigners to take up opportunities, in all the areas including Investments, trade, tourism and more.
The Government, together with the private sector is undertaking to create new opportunities in all the sectors including education, finance, industry and governance, for sustainable development towards a high middle-income economy by 2030. In addition, Expo 2020 Dubai is an opportunity for Zimbabwe to celebrate and expound on the results of the current Public sector reform efforts, as expounded by the Transitional Stabilization Programme, which include the Ease of Doing Business, Corporate Governance, State Enterprises and other reforms.
